Sunday, August 22nd - In lieu of our regularly schedule evening class, we will be having a benefit Flow Yoga class accompanied by live violin music. Velda Kelly will be providing a lively and energetic music with donations to benefit the Tiny Scarab Series. All are welcomed and we have a few spots left.

.
On Saturday, July 24th, we are hosting our 2nd Annual Open House Event.
Pl
ease mark your calendar, and set some time aside!

After our regularly scheduled classes in the morning, we will switch gears by opening our doors and hearts to visiting guests and members. Please feel free to stop in to engage and share the moment with some of your yoga teachers and fellow members, maybe grabbing a bite to eat too.  If time permits, and your schedule allows, please spend the entire day sampling some of our members' various talents. Pick and choose activities that ring true to you.

Here's a listing of what is currently planned…maybe more will be added to the mix!

  • A Facilitated Labyrinth Walk: Kathy Igoe, professional life coach, will be present to open up your awareness in this outdoor, yet inward, walk. Held outside on a very large canvas labyrinth. Contact Kathy to reserve a spot. www.igoecoach.com
  • Yoga Art: Lindsay Satchell, professional artist, will showcase her many beautiful works in our lobby turned art studio. If you enjoy yoga, and you have any artistic appreciation; you will love Lindsay and her paintings.
  • Massage & Reiki: Let our studio memberships' cast of talented Massage Therapists and Reiki Masters show off their abilities by bringing relaxation and comfort to your body, mind and being through their kind touch.
  • Restorative Yoga Session: Mini-session held outdoors on the labyrinth. Suitable for anyone that can breathe.
  • Healthy Food: Fresh fruit, veggies, and other assorted delectable items will be available. If you are so inclined, feel free to bring along something to share.
  • Labyrinth Closing:  We wrap things up, by wrapping up the labyrinth, physically, as well as, ceremonially.  Meaningful and friendly conversations illuminated by warm and friendly fire follow the closing ceremony. Participants are encouraged to hang out and share a moment with others as we gaze into that primordial fire. Marshmallows optional!
If this hasn't piqued your interest a little, please check your pulse. ;-)

We sincerely hope that you will be able to make it to this laid-back, but interesting event. Our teachers and staff have truly appreciated what you, our membership, have given to us through our shared "yogic" journey. Here is our tentative time schedule. See what works for you!

Introduction to Ayurveda

Dr. Beena Vesikar, M.D.
Northville Yoga Center - Saturday, April 18, 2009

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian science of healing. This holistic, humanistic and person centered medicine system shows us how to find our own natural health and unfold our deeper energy potentials. This science is designed to provide a better understanding of an individual's physiological, psychological and spiritual nature. It includes all methods of healing from diet, herbs, exercise and lifestyle regimen to yoga practices and meditation.

The combined study of Ayurveda and Yoga is of great importance for self- discipline, as Ayurveda through self healing supports Yoga for Self-realization. Together Ayurveda and Yoga is a complete discipline, which can transform our existence from the physical to the deepest spiritual level. This lecture gave those who attended a brief introduction to Ayurvedic science and how it helps to maintain our health in day-to-day life.

Sky Foundation Fundraiser

June McCarthy / Free Flow Style
Northville Yoga Center - Tuesday, February 24, 2009

One of our very own members and "teacher extraordinaire", June McCarthy, hosted this special Tuesday evening class at Northville Yoga Center. The intention being not only for having an enjoyable evening of yoga, but to exemplify selflessness and service through our yoga practice. Many enjoyed this special evening of serving others. The donations for attending this practice were solely channeled to the Sky Foundation Inc. This foundation directs its energy to develop technologies and testing systems to detect early stage pancreatic cancer, when it's most treatable. This fundraiser was held at Northville Yoga Center. Red Pepper Deli and Wild Flower "delectables" were served after the event!

A big THANK YOU to June and all the members that attended this Fundraiser.
Together we can make a difference!
